Jay Bonner

Associate Head
Asheville School NC

Jay Bonner has served at Asheville School for over thirty years, first as a teacher, coach, and hall parent, and working in subsequent years as Dorm Head, Assistant Dean of Students, and Dean of Faculty. He currently serves as Associate Head and aids in development efforts. He began his teaching career at Brown University and the University of North Carolina Asheville. He continues to write reviews for publications such as Kirkus Reviews and Asheville Poetry Review, fiction, and poetry.

Doug Dickson

Assistant Head for Student Life
Episcopal High School VA

In fall of 2017, Doug began working and living at Episcopal High School, where is the Assistant Head for Student Life. Doug directs the effort at EHS to support a fully residential student body in the daily life of the school. Doug responsibilities include oversight of the Residential program, the operations of the Health Center, Student Activities, the Athletic program, and any aspect of student life at the school. Previous to his experience at Episcopal, Doug served as the Upper School Head at St. Stephen’ Episcopal School, a day-boarding school located in the vibrant and fun city of Austin TX. Prior to St. Stephen’s, Doug worked for 26 years at St. Paul’s School in Concord NH where he filled a variety of roles including math teacher, coach of football and lacrosse, dorm head, athletic director, dean of students and eventually Vice Rector for Student Life.

Doug is a long-standing member of the TABS faculty for both the Summer and Winter Residential Life Workshops, and he has served as a consultant on residential issues with schools throughout the country and internationally. Doug has been a frequent presenter on residential issues at conferences throughout the country

Jackie O’Rourke

A veteran English teacher, dorm parent, field hockey and ice hockey coach, Jackie O’Rourke opened her consulting firm, Outermost Education Services, in 2018 after serving as the Dean of Residential Life and Leadership at Tilton School. A graduate of Cushing Academy, O’Rourke earned her BA and played ice hockey at Williams College, then added her MAT in Secondary Education from Boston University. After beginning her career at Berkshire School in Massachusetts as the Director of Student Activities, O’Rourke taught English for a semester at Boston Latin School before venturing overseas to teach English, coach soccer and serve as a dorm parent at King’s Academy in Madaba, Jordan. She later returned to Berkshire to teach, coach and advise. O’Rourke now lives and works on Cape Cod with her husband, Devon, and daughter, Finny.
